Named in honour of the first Minister of Education of Alberta, the Alexander Rutherford Scholarship is fifth on the list of top 10 Canadian scholarships. Rutherford was very vocal about supporting public education and was always in favour of the expansion of public universities and colleges across Canada. In his honour, the Government of Alberta gives out this scholarship each year.
